Monkey at job site - one of our neighbors in the jungle to the south of the project.

Donna on the walkway at the major shopping center located close to our current housing and close to the project.  There is a Ferris wheel in the background that is a part of carnival that has set up there.

Reed on the shopping center's walkway with the jungle in the background.  This jungle is located south of the temple site and is considered a protected area and supposedly will never be built upon.  That's where the little monkeys live, along with, we are told, snakes of 2 meters in length, jaguars and other small cats.

Below is a foto of the dedicated Fortaleza temple that we visited this past Monday.  Reed served 6 months there as a missionary the first half of 1970.  The area has changed dramatically.  We were told that the area has two missions and almost 20 stakes of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  There are more stakes in Fortaleza than there are in Rio de Janeiro.  The infrastructure is much better than the infrastructure in Belem and the area seems a great deal cleaner.  Drivers are still about the same however.  Here's the Rio temple as well.  It is going through the final efforts to complete construction
